LUCI--Luigi Luci, age 83 years old, passed away on July 4, 2010 after an extended illness. He was born on July 11, 1926 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and had lived in Jacksonville FL for the past 22 years. Mr. Luci had been married to Barbara Marie “ Bobbie” Luci for the past 55 years, who passed away a few days earlier. He was a retired Navy Corpsman, having served extensively in World War II in the Pacific. After the war, Lou, as he was known to his family and friends, and Bobbie lived in many places, including the Far East, as his military career demanded. The family eventually settled in Florida where they raised 2 children, Mark and Lucette Luci. Lou graduated from the University of Florida and worked for many years in the field of ophthalmology. He was an avid Florida Gator fan.
Mr. Luci was predeceased in death by his parents, Vincent Lucci and Dolores D’Augustine Lucci, both originally from Italy, as well as a brother, James Lucci, and sisters Maria Lucci, Carmela Aieilo, Frances Christiano, and Catherine “Katie” York. He is survived by a son, Mark Louis Luci of Jacksonville and a daughter Lucette Marie Lucci of Orlando FL. Lou is also survived by two sisters, Lorraine Tenuta of California, and Geraldine Lucci of Reedsburg WI, and 3 brothers, Albert Lucci, John Lucci, and Vincent Lucci all of Kenosha WI , and 2 grandchildren, Courtney Marie Arthur and Chad Michael Arthur, and 2 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11AM Friday, July 9, 2010 in the chapel at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park. FL. Mr. Luci will be laid to rest with his wife at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery. Family members will receive guests prior to the service from 10AM-11AM at the funeral home.
